TiviMate error codes: what 401, 403, 458, 500 and 503 mean

Rule of thumb: codes in the 400s are about your login or account (check the details, the expiry date and how many devices are watching). Codes in the 500s are temporary server problems (wait, update the playlist, then contact support).

502 / 504 Bad gateway / timeoutServer too slow to answerRetry; update the playlist

Error 401: fix the login

  1. Open Settings → Playlists → your playlist → Edit.
  2. Type the server address exactly as in your email, with http:// and the port (for example :8080).
  3. Re-type the username and password: watch for spaces and capital letters.
  4. Still 401? Your plan may have expired. Check the date in your activation email.

Error 403: access refused

The server knows the account but will not play. Check three things: the subscription is active, nobody else is watching on the same login (each plan includes a fixed number of connections), and the playlist is up to date (Settings → Playlists → Update playlist). If it shows on every channel, contact support with the time it happened.

Error 458: too many connections

Code 458 is not an official web error, but IPTV servers use it to refuse a stream. Nine times out of ten, a second device is still connected, for example a phone you forgot or a TV left on. Stop the other stream, wait one minute, and try again. Need more screens at once? Multi-device plans are listed on the plans page.

Errors 500, 502, 503 and 504: server side

These are not caused by your device or settings. Wait a few minutes, try a different channel, then update the playlist. If all channels show the error for more than 15 minutes, contact us and we check the server.

No code, just buffering or a black screen? That points to the connection or the device. Use the buffering guide. Empty TV guide? See EPG not working.

Frequently asked questions

What does error 401 mean in TiviMate?

The server did not accept your login: a typo in the username or password, a wrong server address, or a subscription that has expired. Re-enter the login exactly as in your email.

What does error 403 mean in TiviMate?

The server understood the request but refused it. Most often the account is not active, the connection limit is reached, or the playlist URL is outdated. Close other devices, update the playlist, and contact your provider if it continues.

What is TiviMate error code 458?

It is not a standard web error; some IPTV servers return it when they refuse a stream. In practice it usually means too many devices are watching on the same login, or the line is not active.

What do errors 500, 502 and 503 mean?

A temporary problem on the server side. Wait a few minutes, try another channel, and update the playlist. If every channel shows it for more than 15 minutes, contact support.

Is a TiviMate error my device’s fault?

Rarely. Codes in the 400s point to the login or account, codes in the 500s to the server. Device problems usually show as buffering or a black screen instead.
